1. Reading data stays local
PageTock stores your books, reading sessions, page progress, streaks, history, and settings in local storage on your device. We do not operate a backend or receive a server copy of this reading data. There are no user accounts or PageTock cloud-sync services.
App data may be included in backups managed by your device or operating system, depending on your settings. Those backups are governed by the backup provider’s terms and privacy practices; they are not a PageTock sync service.
2. No analytics or third-party crash reporting
PageTock does not integrate analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or third-party crash-reporting services. It does not send usage events to an analytics service. Platform-level diagnostics controlled by Apple and your device settings are separate from PageTock’s own data practices.
3. Book searches and cover images
When you scan an ISBN barcode, PageTock contacts Open Library to look up book information. Requests include the ISBN being searched. Loading book covers also involves requests to the cover-image service. As with other internet requests, the service receives connection information such as your IP address.
These requests are handled by Open Library and the Internet Archive under their own privacy practices. You can add book details manually instead. Learn more at Open Library and in the Internet Archive privacy policy.
4. Camera and notifications
If you choose to scan a barcode or photograph a book cover, PageTock requests camera access. Camera images are not uploaded to PageTock’s servers. A scanned ISBN is used for the lookup described above.
Reading reminders are scheduled locally on your device. PageTock does not register a remote push token or use a remote push-notification service. You can manage camera and notification permissions in your iPhone’s Settings.
5. When you contact support
If you email pagetock@gmail.com, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments or information you choose to send. We use this information to handle your request and understand reported problems. Email is processed and stored through Gmail, subject to Google’s privacy policy.
Support correspondence is retained as needed to address requests and maintain relevant support records. You may request deletion by emailing the same address. Some information may need to be retained to meet legal obligations. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for your request.
6. This website
The public PageTock website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical information, including visitor IP addresses, for security and service operation. See GitHub’s privacy statement.
We do not add analytics, advertising trackers, or tracking cookies to this website. Email links open your chosen email application. The Copy email button copies only the displayed support address when you select it.
7. Your choices and deletion
You can manage your reading information in the app. Deleting the app from your device removes its local app data; offloading the app may retain data. Copies in device backups are managed through your backup settings. Because we do not receive your local reading data, we cannot view, retrieve, or delete it remotely.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. For questions or requests about information you have sent to support, contact us below.
8. Children’s privacy
PageTock is intended primarily for adults and is not directed at children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, such as through a support email, please contact pagetock@gmail.com. If we learn that we have received personal information from a child under 13 without any required parental consent, we will take steps to delete it, subject to applicable law.
9. TestFlight beta testing
If you test PageTock through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information and shares them with us. Apple also shares feedback you submit, including comments and screenshots. Depending on how you join the test, this information may be associated with your name and email address. This collection is part of TestFlight and is separate from the app’s lack of integrated analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
We use beta-testing information to investigate issues and improve PageTock. We retain any copies we keep only as long as needed for those purposes or legal obligations, and do not share this information with third parties. To request access to or deletion of beta-testing information we hold, email pagetock@gmail.com. Apple manages its own retention under TestFlight & Privacy.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if PageTock’s features or data practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
